It’s Comment Friday here at NiggyBuzz Blog and also at BAYB. As this is only second Comment Friday here, let me remind you what it actually is.

Idea comes from Blog About Your Blog. Comment Friday’s idea is simple and fun. Just leave us a comment about the topic mentioned here. And then we can get a great discussion going. Each week I’ll choose one lucky commentator to be featured as our Blog of the Week and that blogger will get a link to their blog in our Featured Sites list for one week.

This week’s topic: “YES” or “NO” to guest blogging? I like the idea about guest blogging for bigger blogs, but then again - some bloggers said that blogs who have lots of guest authors are going to be less valuable with time. What you think about this?

I really like the concept of guest bloggers though I don’t see it working for my blog. Philaahzophy is, by definition, my thoughts and words. I’m not sure how guest bloggers would make a blog less valuable over time. I’d think they’d just increase traffic and that’s always a good thing, isn’t it?

I’m not going to say no, never, but I’m more cold on guest blogging than warm. Why? Readers subscribe to specific bloggers, not just blogs. You know, the singer, not just the song. When those bloggers step aside and bring in another voice, similar content/quality is rarely offered. Instead, you get somebody coming in from xyz blog pitching their stuff to readers.

I’d rather see bloggers I’m subscribed to take a vacation with no posts (that’s a vacation for readers too) or schedule posts in advance while they are gone and bring somebody in to moderate the comments.

The exception of this would be the group blog which already has a subset of writers and voices. This is one clear advantage for group blogs over one author blogs.
