Why? Readers subscribe to specific bloggers, not just blogs. You know, the singer, not just the song. When those bloggers step aside and bring in another voice, similar content/quality is rarely offered. Instead, you get somebody coming in from xyz blog pitching their stuff to readers. I'd rather see bloggers I'm subscribed to take a vacation with no posts (that's a vacation for readers too) or schedule posts in advance while they are gone and bring somebody in to moderate the comments. The exception of this would be the group blog which already has a subset of writers and voices. This is one clear advantage for group blogs over one author blogs. Philaahzophy is, by definition, my thoughts and words. I'm not sure how guest bloggers would make a blog less valuable over time.
