Giveaway MondayIt’s Monday – Giveaway time here at NiggyBuzz Blog! This Monday you can get a free e-Book called “Maximum Profits From Minimum Ads“!

Learn how to get more business for your business with Maximum Profits From Minimum Ads – The Small Businessman’s Essential Guide to Successful Advertising!

Because the real purpose of advertising is not to simply let people know about your business – it’s to get them to pay money to your business for your products or services.

And for advertising to be truly effective, it has to generate far more in business revenue than it costs. This is especially true for new or small businesses that can’t afford to spend vast sums on ads that are commercial failures. When it’s your own money you’re spending, every penny counts.

What you therefore need to know is how to advertise your business in a way that will bring in the maximum amount of business for the minimum amount of advertising spend – and that’s exactly what this book is going to tell you.

Maximum Profits From Minimum Ads tells you about:

  • The most common mistake in small ads, why it will lose you money and what you should do instead.
  • How to find and identify the best publications in which to place your ads.
  • How to tell which ads are pulling in business and which aren’t.
  • How to turn browsers into buyers.
  • The cornerstones of successful advertising as used by the top agencies – and how you can profit from using them yourself.
  • The psychology of buyers and how to make it work for you.
  • How you can get FREE advertising for your business.
  • The actual process of coming up with the right words to use in your ad.
  • How to make your ad stand out from the others on the page and so attract the most attention.
  • The one line every ad should contain and why it can substantially increase the amount of business you get – so long you avoid making the same mistakes many businesses do. And naturally it tells you how to do that too!

Maximum Profits From Minimum Ads tells you all this and more, and the information it contains is equally valid whether you advertise purely locally or even internationally.

Do You Use Splash Pages?

February 1, 2009 by IngaOz

Do You use so called Splash Pages to promote Your business? Often sale pages for products are too large and loads really slow and if You have only few seconds to promote Your business, splash pages are the best in my opinion. You can concentrate most important information about Your business or product, add some eye-catching image and it will work!

Here are 12 Common Reasons For Using Splash Pages (listed on Smashing Magazine):

  1. Splash pages display disclaimers or warnings which are supposed to restrict access to content such as pornography, advertising, or gambling (as is required by law).
  2. It is necessary to draw visitors’ attention to an important message such as approaching deadline, critical update, latest release, news, slogan etc.
  3. Visitors are supposed to select the language they want to use or the country they come from — to direct users to the appropriate version of the site.
  4. Visitors can choose between a low-bandwidth version (HTML — Dial-Up) and high-bandwidth version (Flash — cable, DSL). Sometimes one can also choose the “accessible” version containing only text without images.
  5. The designer informs visitors about site requirements such as used browsers, screen resolution as well as used Flash, Java, Quicktime etc. and suggests to choose the “right” configuration and download plug-ins for “optimal” site presentation.
  6. Visitors can select the preferred view mode – for instance, standard mode and fullscreen mode.
  7. Multiples sites share the same domain. Or a large site tries to communicate its most important sections directly.
  8. Splash page is supposed to include hints for browsing the site and explains the main sections.
  9. Designers use splash page trying to awake excitement for the actual content of the site.
  10. Sound is announced. Visitors are asked to turn on their loudspeakers to enjoy the Flash-show or Midi-experience (yes, apparently Midis are still alive).
  11. Splash pages are used as an additional form of advertising.
  12. The decision to use a splash page is design-driven and realizes some designer’s idea.

And here are some Pros and Cons about splash pages, written by Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com:

Pros to Splash Pages:

  • Splash pages are fast loading, they get all the information up quickly on the first page without scrolling.
  • Splash pages ensure that your readers see your animation or flash, at least once.
  • They are a great way to show off your best work, like a portfolio.
  • Splash pages allow your readers to choose the site technology that fits them.
  • You can then use your server logs to see what the breakdown is of your actual customers.

Cons to Splash Pages:

  • The usability of a splash page is completely flawed. Your readers come to your site to enter it and a splash page prevents that.
  • Many readers don’t like splash pages – and in some studies 25% of visitors left a site right after seeing a splash page.
  • Splash pages break search engines. Since many splash pages only include a flash animation there isn’t a lot for a search engine to optimize on. And if you add content to the page in comments you can be penalized for spamdexing.
  • The animation can be repetitive. Readers who have seen the flash don’t often want to sit through it again, but if you forget to include a “skip” option they will have to.
  • While the flash movie or fancy animation may look really nice, the impression they make may be one of pretentiousness rather than detailing your skills.
  • If you submit your splash page to a search engine, the JavaScript codes that move customers to the next page may prevent the search engine from adding any page on the site.

Where to get or how to create a Splash Page?

Well, there are several ways to get Your own splash page. You can create it yourself! Then again, if You are not familar with html and coding, You can ask someone to create splash page for You (there are many designers who are offering splash pages for reasonable prices, just do some googling about it). You can use free  service – sites that allow You to create Your own splash pages without knowing any coding and html. I use two of them and so far they works just great, plus – You don’t need to host those splashpages yourself. So if You are interested You can try Instant Squeeze Page Generator or TEToolbox. Also time to time I create splash pages myself, not like a Pro LOL, but still looks and works really nice for my business needs. :)
