It’s My Birthday!

Woooo-hoooooo it’s my Birthday Today! And yeah… actually I don’t feel very happy as from Today I will be one year older. LOL. I am 29 now.

This is not a post about how to make money online but at least I want to warn You about how to not to loose money online this time.

Well, the story is… :

I received few postal cheques few months ago, but I was not able give them to bank for money because my passport was expired and… I was just too lazy to go and change it… Finally when I was ready, I changed it to new passport and bring all my cheques to my bank. They warned me that for every cheque >$100 I will need pay the commission of $7 and for every cheque <$100 I will n eed pay the commission of $20. So far OK. I needed to wait for 20-30 days until my cheques are cleared and paid to my bank account.

Then, after those 20 days I saw That 2 of my cheques are paid and for other two I have paid mystery $30 and no money in my account. What happened?? Well I was asking the same question. And my bank said... Those two cheques were expired already and I had to pay $30 for each, just because they has verified that. But nobody has warned me about that cheques may be expired!!! OHHHHH!!!!

So there is a lesson for You: If You have received cheque in past and don't know if it is still valid, better contact Your affiliate program / cheque sender and ask them! No need to pay such big money to Bank just for nothing!!!

Now I am a poor lady, celebrating my birthday. LOOOL

One Birthday Missed, One More to Go!

Shame on me! I have no idea HOW, but I missed NiggyBuzz Blog’s Birthday which was on February 16 somehow! Yep, that’s right – first post was published a bit more than year ago, on February 16, 2007 and it was called “StartXchange“. I wanted start a blog to just show you some nice programs where I was joined and which worked fine for me.

Then after some time I felt that it looks bad when every post contains my referral links and started to post about money making tips online.

This blog is not perfect – I know. There is a lot of work needed and I will improve it with a time. You may not agree with me, but I suppose that just 1 year in blogging is not so much at all… I also know that my English is not brilliant (and even got some rude comments about it), but hey – I believe that most of my readers speak/write in Latvian and Russian even worse than I speak/write in English. I am learning!

As you can see in the title it says that one more Birthday is on the way! Yeah! Tomorrow (February 22) is my Birthday!!! I’ll become 28 years old (or young, depends on many aspects)… To say truth – I don’t like Birthdays anymore, lol, every year, I can feel that I am older and older (that never happened when I was 16-21).

Basically, I started this post to say you that this blog is now officially 1 year old and – to ask your opinions on how to improve it – in what topics you’re interested? More about affiliate programs? More about SEO? More about how and where to promote your own blog? Maybe you don’t like the design? Every comment is really apperiticated!

December Earnings Report

For first – HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I really hope it will be very successful for me as well as for you – my blog readers!!! May all your dreams come true!

Well, to say truth – this is first time I share my earnings. I never did this before just because my earning weren’t big (they still are not) and because I wanted to see which programs will work for me and which ones – will not work for me.

For first let me tell you my biggest mistake ever (and do not do it yourself!!!) – too many ads in one small blog. LOL. Really! Too many ads in one small blog don’t looks good at all. I am not saying that right now my blog looks perfect, but I am trying to put less ads in here, those ones which was without any profit I have deleted and still doing some analytics and will delete more, replace etc. Basically, you can read about my plans for this blog in one of previous posts called “Update Your Blogs and Blog About Christmas“.

Ok, now let’s go for my December (small) income (for THIS blog mainly):

Direct Advertising (125×125 banner): $10.00
PayPerPost: $22.00
Review Me: $57.50
Google AdSense: $3.00 (OMG, looks terrible)
Voxant Newsroom: $2.31 (looks even more terrible)

Total: $94.81

Not much at all… right? And now even better (WORSE) – this blog lost its Page Rank (from 3 to 0) and I believe it happened because of those paid reviews. Now when I have no Page rank, I also has no new review requests for 2 weeks… So looks like that income source is over. I need think more about direct advertising and affiliate programs like Share-A-Sale, More Niche and others, of course those new paid wiki pages looks interesting for me too…

So, this was my Income report for December for this blog. Do you have any good suggestions what I should do to earn more? I have something in my mind, but will not share yet (need look how it looks in real) .

Update Your Blogs and Blog About Christmas

It’s time to update our blog or blogs!

The end of Year is coming, so it’s the best time to update and clean your blogs. At least – I am going to do this with my blogs. The plan is:

• Recalculate which Affiliate programs works and which ones not works for me,
• Clean blogs from useless ads,
• Update writing in my posts – now when I have the WhiteSmoke program, I believe that I can write much better (yeah, sadly English is not my primary language, and I was very lazy student…) ,
• Update categories – I have too many categories for each blog. I suppose 7, maximum 10 categories are enough and with a new Tag system in WordPress blogs we now can use tags to describe subjects of the post more deeply,
• Update posts by deleting useless ones (ex., like those which was written for Affiliate programs where I am not a member anymore) and adding updates and/or tips like I already did with my post about WhiteSmoke,

Blog About Christmas!

Of course, it’s the best time to blog about Christmas and earn some $$$ while doing this. Actually, I absolutely forgot about this kind of action until read Garry Conn’s post “Are You Blogging About Christmas?”, thank you, Garry! Garry is so very right (again!). I love his blog and visit it often, believe or no, but every time I go there, I see something to learn from.

So, for this reason (blogging about Christmas, not loving Garry’s Blog ) Yesterday I’ve worked on my new project called BOS: Seasons – Make This Christmas Special (tag line will be changed as season changes). Mainly there will be best offers around of the Internet to get best gifts and gift ideas for the ones you love. That blog is not completed (how it could, lol, I only worked 1 day on it), but I am working on that, and as Mr. Garry Conn said:

“A bad blog about Christmas is better than NO blog about Christmas”.

Moreover, I don’t think that BOS: Seasons will be the worst blog around, it will become better and better with every day and every new season!

Update on Dec 2, 2008 – I moved everything from sub-blog to main, called Best Online Stuff, so my readers can find all kind of deals there, not only seasonal ones.

PodCast ANY Blog with Talkr

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is a way to tell your personal computer to automatically download audio files onto your mp3 player.

Podcasting requires three components:

1. A podcasting server
2. A podcasting client (aka a “podcatcher”)
3. An mp3 player

The podcasting server stores the audio files that you want on your mp3 player. The server is a largely passive beast. It sits in a swanky colocation facility with air conditioning, dual power supplies and a really big hard drive.

What is Talkr?

Talkr provides a service that allows you to listen to your favorite text-only news sources rather than read them. If you can point Talkr to an RSS or Atom feed (a machine-readable version of your favorite blog or news source) they will convert that feed from text to speech.

Talkr can also provide you with a podcast of your favorite news sources. This means that you can plug your MP3 player into your home computer once a day and Talkr will provide you with hours of audio content with no additional work on your part.
